Against doctor’s orders
July 16th, 2006
Yes, I know the doc said stay off the shoulder and don’t do anything to exert yourself. Technically, I didn’t, right? 45 minutes of blading only uses the legs, after all, and I was very careful to not do much with the shoulder. Overall a success, I think, and lemme tell ya: The endorphin rush was worth the risk.
I haven’t been blading since the accident, 2.5 weeks ago. I’ve always been too cautious, worried, whatever. I’ve avoided looking too hard at the scale and at my belt line, because prolonged lack of activity like that was bound to result in a muscle/fat redistribution. And as expected, I lost about 6 pounds over the last few weeks, and my beltline hasn’t really changed at all (though 6 isn’t really enough to have an impact). Additionally the fact that I haven’t really been doing upper body work at all is pretty indicative of the direction my V-frame has gone. Less buff on the arms, much more buff on the thighs.
But now as the endorphins are wearing off, I’m starting to get a little twinge in my shoulder. It’s not something I’m really worried about, but this is indicative that it’s not a stunt I can repeat too often… in other words, I’m not going to dance tonight, even though I’m going out. Still, it’s good to know I’m back in the game.
Oh, and for you Mac users, GimmeSomeTune is the best extension ever. Automatic album art collection for me!
