The end of an era

Monday, July 5th, 2004

It is a day for relaxation. The massive social overload that was this weekend has left me tired but smiling. Not one of those stupid grins, but one of those deep seated smiles that reach into the satisfied bubble that is your ego. You close your eyes, and you can feel that smile suffuse you in a state of worn out happiness.

There’s a note of melancholy though- It’s almost like this is the end of an era. People are moving away, the group is changing, and the social dynamic that I’ve gotten used to is giving me its last big hug and sending me out into the world with a knapsack and a set of new boots.

Sincerity and Depth of Commitment

Far be it from me to put words to the wonderful event that I participated in today, save issuing threefold congratulations:

Firstly, and most importantly, to Erik and Laura. I could blather on about sincerity and how depth of commitment is a wonderful thing, but in the end… well, my commentary really boils down to the following: I was wrong about both of you. Congratulations, and I wish you both the best of luck in your life together… even though I doubt you’ll need it.
